Position Overview

ENGEO Incorporated is seeking a dedicated Soil Technician/Field Representative who is eager to expand their expertise in Special Inspections.

Role Summary: As a Field Representative at ENGEO, you will act as the liaison for our company on various construction sites, ensuring exceptional client service. Our Soil Representatives play a vital role in the construction sector by verifying adherence to project specifications and engineering guidelines. You will essentially serve as the on-site representative for our project engineers and managers.

In the words of Dylan Searle-Lively, Senior Field Representative: 'As a Soil Representative at ENGEO, you will engage in numerous unique and challenging projects. Your main responsibility will be to utilize a gauge for moisture and compaction verification and relay the findings to the relevant stakeholders.'

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct QA/QC field assessments during site earthworks (grading) and site enhancements (utilities, wall backfill, and street construction) in accordance with design specifications and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and engineering guidelines.
  • Perform in-place density assessments of engineered soil and rock materials during site development utilizing a nuclear density gauge.
  • Utilize a provided surface laptop to accurately document testing and observations, with T&O reports submitted daily to Construction Service Managers for evaluation.
  • Collect soil and rock samples and submit them for geotechnical laboratory analysis.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Willingness to cross-train in areas such as Construction SWPPP, ACI, and ICC certifications.

General Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; a degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Proof of car insurance required upon hiring.
  • Access to a personal vehicle suitable for construction sites (daily reimbursement available).
  • Clean driving record and a commitment to a drug-free workplace.

Certifications

  • Nuclear Density Gauge certification is required; training will be provided if necessary.
  • ACI Field Testing Technician certification is preferred; training reimbursement will be supported if needed.
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete and ICC Post Tensioning certifications are bonuses; training reimbursement will be supported if needed.
