Job Title: Behavioral Health Counselor I

Are you passionate about helping others overcome life's challenges? Do you have a heart for serving those in need? We're seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavioral Health Counselor I to join our team at Seattle's Union Gospel Mission.

Job Summary:

As a Behavioral Health Counselor I, you will provide individual and group counseling sessions to guests struggling with addiction, mental health issues, and other challenges. You will work closely with our clinical team to develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each guest. Your expertise and empathy will help our guests build healthy coping skills, overcome dependencies, and achieve long-term recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address mental health issues, addiction, and other challenges
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and records
  • Guide guests in developing healthy coping skills and strategies for stress management
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or above in counseling or a related field
  • LMHC or related license
  • 2+ years of experience in counseling or a related field
  • Experience in social service organizations preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Work Environment:

This role requires frequent use of computers, keyboarding, and talking on the telephone. You will work in a temperature-controlled environment and may occasionally stand, balance, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands/arms. Regularly lifts up to 20 pounds and walks using stairways to climb multiple floors within the facility.
