Job Summary

Professional Physical Therapy is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients restore function and enhance their independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and administer medically prescribed occupational therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain and prevent disability.
  • Review and evaluate patients' conditions and medical records.
  • Provide assessment of evaluation and develop short and long term plans.
  • Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Fabricate splints as prescribed by referring physician.
  • Develop short and long term treatment plans and measure patient progress.
  • Plan and prepare treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data.
  • Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatment to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Record treatment, response and progress in the patient's chart and records it in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Write and update monthly progress notes; maintain all patient chart notes.
  • Educate patients on home exercise programs and the use of assistive devices.
  • Provide discharge planning for patient.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and doctors.
  • Supervise all activities in directing patient care and proper utilization of support personnel.
  • Evaluate treatment with other team members.
  • Review the physician's referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine occupational therapy treatment required.
  • Orient, instruct and direct the work activities of Occupational Therapist Assistants and Occupational Therapy Aides.
  • Complete required orientation as directed by the Company; attend meetings and seminars as required.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA and all other applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Behave in a manner consistent with Professional's mission, vision and values.
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Occupational Therapist License (for the state you practice in).
  • Master or Bachelors degree of Occupational Therapy required.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive collaborative relationships across all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to communicate well with patients, co-workers and the general public.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
