Position Overview

The primary purpose of the Admissions Nurse is to facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, medical, and financial arrangements of incoming chemically dependent patients and/or family members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides appropriate orientation to program aspects after admission, including documentation and data input into the computer system.
  • Ensures prompt responses to patient needs reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs.
  • Provides telephonic and in-person assessments and initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.
  • Collects and analyzes data related to departmental performance indicators.
  • Assists counselors and other senior program staff in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Completes admissions nursing assessments, consents, and initial paperwork.
  • Assists in getting initial insurance authorizations as needed.
  • Completes admissions body searches and physical exams, including vital signs.
  • Requires a current Licensed Practical Nurse licensure with the State Board of Nursing.

Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years working in a substance abuse service.
* Up-to-date CPR or BLS certification required.
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
* Excellent organizational skills and negotiation skills with the ability to interact on a professional level with all levels of staff.
* Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
* Flexible and able to address multiple issues simultaneously.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office.
