Job Summary

The Veterans Health Administration's Otolaryngology Service is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate ENT Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our service, you will provide comprehensive care to patients with otolaryngology-related illnesses, including hospitalized patients and those receiving ambulatory care. Your expertise will also be utilized to educate medical students and residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in staff meetings, hospital committees, and peer review process to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain VA training requirements, complete documentation, and upkeep of credentials required for privileging and re-privileging.
  • Participate in the FPPE/OPPE process, adhere to employee health requirements, and participate in Clinical Pertinence Reviews (routine medical record reviews).
  • Adhere to tour of duties, request leave in VISTA, and for clinic cancellations.
  • Clinical Management includes indirect patient care, accurate and timely open encounter & open consult management, adheres to CPRS documentation rules and requirements, and to clinic procedures for patient scheduling & access.
  • Facilitate clinic staff productivity, oversight of relevant performance measures, and participates in the development of the new focus on the Medical Home and Patient Centric Care, Utilization Management, and Patient Safety initiatives, and process improvements (system redesign).
  • Remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field, with exact privileges and procedures approved by the Professional Standards Board.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • License: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience providing patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.
  • Experience performing complex surgeries.
  • Experience performing scope practices.
  • Experience diagnosing and treating conditions related to scope of practice.
  • Experience using scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care.
