Position Overview

Educational Requirements: An Associate's degree in nursing, a registered nurse diploma, or a Bachelor of Science in nursing is required. Candidates must hold a current nursing license in Arkansas and possess comprehensive knowledge of children with special developmental and medical needs. A solid understanding of early childhood development and intervention strategies is essential.

Key Responsibilities

The individual will report to the clinic's Program Administrator and collaborate with the Director of Nursing regarding health and safety as well as clinical needs.

  • Oversee medical and health-related documentation for pediatric services.
  • Ensure proper management, storage, and inventory of medications.
  • Monitor adherence to OSHA regulations concerning blood-borne pathogens.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of medical resources for the preschool.
  • Regularly update client medical records in the designated system.
  • Document any incidents or injuries that occur.
  • Conduct assessments of height and weight as directed by the attending physician.
  • Engage with local and regional medical professionals for case management as necessary.
  • Participate in required training sessions and conferences, including potential travel.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid, providing training to staff as needed.
  • Offer routine medical information to parents upon request.
  • Facilitate in-service training for staff on relevant topics.
  • Act as the first responder in emergencies.
  • Administer respiratory treatments as required or supervise trained personnel in performing these tasks.
  • Measure vital signs, treat wounds, and assess patients' physical conditions.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers for further medical interventions when necessary.
  • Review medical histories of all enrolled clients and provide training to staff.
  • Ensure all classrooms and transportation vehicles are equipped with necessary medical supplies.
  • Conduct initial screenings for potential service candidates.
  • Perform safety inspections at various facilities as assigned.
  • Deliver training to staff at pediatric sites as required.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Stay informed about developments and trends in developmental disabilities.
  • Exhibit professionalism and sound judgment in nursing decisions.
  • Promote continuity and quality of care for children and their families.
  • Assist with compliance related to the Consumer Directed Care Act.
  • Support the Training Department with clinical training during new employee orientation.
  • Contribute to ensuring compliance with health and safety practices.
  • This role is classified as safety-sensitive.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Possess an Associate's degree in nursing, a registered nurse diploma, or a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
  • Hold a valid nursing license in Arkansas.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of pediatric care and early childhood development.

Candidates should have the ability to:

  • Read and interpret safety regulations and procedural manuals.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Engage with a variety of healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Regularly using hands for various tasks.
  • Occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintaining a moderate level of physical activity throughout the workday.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level and requires adherence to safety protocols. Candidates must be able to pass background checks and maintain a valid driver's license.
