KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Skills for Success:

  • Exemplary customer service skills are crucial, as this role interacts with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in SAP applications, particularly Analysis for Office (A4O) reporting.
  • Strong command of Excel for data analysis and reporting.

  • Capability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership to facilitate informed decision-making.

Finance and Analysis (75%):

  • Provide guidance to School of Medicine departments to ensure compliance with University and School financial policies.
  • Assist business managers in financial analysis and the preparation of departmental budgets, summarizing annual budgets for senior leadership presentations.
  • Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis to senior leadership and support special projects as assigned.
  • Conduct monthly financial activity analyses for departments, explaining variances to budget and monitoring expense controls.
  • Oversee the monthly and year-end closing processes, including journal transaction processing and reviews.
  • Collaborate with staff on audits of financial or compliance-related activities within departments.

Oversight and Collaboration (25%):

  • Engage in special projects assigned by the Associate Dean of Finance, focusing on business process improvements and system implementations.
  • Regularly interact with leadership within the School of Medicine and University Finance staff.
  • Provide backup support for various financial reporting and analysis tasks, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with business managers, offering training on budgeting systems and financial procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A CPA designation is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of six years of experience in financial management, cost accounting, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
