Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Petco Animal Supplies Stores, Inc. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional medical care to our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to their owners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including routine and emergency appointments, surgery, and euthanasia.
  • Collect patient histories, document electronic medical records, and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, and handle medications under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Schedule appointments, provide client education, and relay test results to doctors and clients.
  • Help prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, and assist with anesthesia and recovery.
  • Understand and maintain a clean and safe hospital environment, adhering to Petco's high standards.
Requirements
  • 1+ year of experience working in a veterinary practice or animal care setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and sympathetic, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude in emotional and stressful situations.
  • Strong team player with a willingness to learn new techniques and treatments.
