Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Mechanic to join our team at the University System of New Hampshire. As a Facilities Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing building system equipment components, including motors, pumps, bearings, fan coils, exhaust systems, filters, emergency lighting, and dining specific equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair building system equipment components, including motors, pumps, bearings, fan coils, exhaust systems, filters, emergency lighting, and dining specific equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and produce high-quality building equipment maintenance work.
  • Work a second shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 3pm-11pm.
  • Be available to flex schedules and respond to requests outside of normal working hours to meet the demands of the university.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in building mechanics, including diagnosing problems with mechanical drives, fans, motors, replacement of bearings and shafts, and annual overhauls of pumps and motors.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Ability to operate UNH lift and understand safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and hazards of the trade.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction, and make necessary repairs.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers, tablets, smartphones, and software systems to perform work duties.
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical Safety 70E certification.
  • Bearings, bearing and shaft seal maintenance, pump installation, repair, and maintenance experience.
  • OSHA 10 certification within the first year.
