About the Role

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking a highly skilled Pavement Section Manager to lead our team in the areas of pavement design, construction, maintenance, and evaluation technologies. As a key member of our department, you will provide technical leadership and managerial direction to the Pavement Engineering Section, ensuring the efficient and economical operation of our public transportation system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide expertise in pavement materials and mixtures, test procedures, equipment capabilities, mix design, pavement design, soil engineering, and mechanics.
  • Pavement Management: Develop and implement policies, rules, standards, and procedures for pavement management, including the implementation of new specifications.
  • Team Management: Supervise staff and establish relationships with stakeholders and interest groups, resolving disputes and ensuring effective communication.
  • Fiscal Management: Develop and manage budgets, allocating resources to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
Requirements
  • Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • Five years of post-registration experience with three years at the Engineer Principal level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a variety of functions, such as research, program delivery, and maintenance.
  • Experience with leadership and management, technical expertise, policymaking, human relations, and fiscal management.
