Job Title: Youth Development Specialist

Family Connections, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced Youth Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in fostering social development and providing support to adolescents in an urban setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate recreational programming and field trips to promote social skill development and teamwork.
  • Build and maintain rapport with students, advocating for their needs and providing non-judgmental responses to facilitate open communication.
  • Facilitate prevention and psycho-educational groups to promote healthy relationships and decision-making skills.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data input into our Management Information System to track student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Provide case management to students as needed, monitoring their academic and behavioral progress and collaborating with school personnel to support their success.
  • Assist in the development and marketing of programs in the school environment and community to promote awareness and engagement.
  • Discuss all suspected cases of abuse and neglect with the Manager/Coordinator and report to the Department of Children and Families (DCP&P).
Requirements:
  • Minimum High School diploma, 3 years experience as a youth service worker; Bachelor's Degree in human services field preferred.
  • Proven ability to work with adolescents in an urban setting.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, community resources, and group process.
  • Ability to create a warm, non-threatening therapeutic atmosphere, provide non-judgmental responses, counsel adolescents, work as a member of a team, advocate for students with school personnel, and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

The individual must possess the ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of up to or in excess of 50 pounds.
