Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven individual to assume the role of Reservoir Engineer within our LCV Sequestration division based in Houston, TX.

This position is centered on advancing development strategies for saline aquifer CO2 sequestration initiatives, necessitating technical proficiency in strategic planning, monitoring, competitive analysis, and tactical implementation, while collaborating across various disciplines including reservoir, geology, petrophysics, drilling, completions, operations, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct reservoir simulations for CO2 injection and monitoring.
  2. Comprehend reservoir simulation principles, types, models, and data inputs.
  3. Evaluate reservoir characteristics in close partnership with geology and petrophysical teams, focusing on parameters such as reservoir thickness, porosity, permeability, and initial water saturations.
  4. Analyze heterogeneities for accurate representation in simulation models.
  5. Examine fluid flow within reservoirs; assess the size of CO2 plume migration and pressure front extent.
  6. Possess expertise in SCAL data, including wettability, relative permeability, and capillary pressures.
  7. Perform compositional modeling.
  8. Develop, calibrate, and run predictive scenarios, optimize investment options, and assist in formulating field development strategies.
  9. Execute uncertainty assessments to gauge the potential range of outcomes.
  10. Contribute to significant technical documentation adhering to regulatory standards.
  11. Support future reserves evaluations utilizing probabilistic and deterministic methodologies.
  12. Communicate effectively with management, subject matter experts, subsurface teams, operations/planning teams, commercial teams, and other essential support groups.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong analytical capabilities.
  2. Proficient in all aspects of reservoir engineering.
  3. Experience with simulation software such as CMG, Eclipse, and TNavigator.
  4. Familiarity with workflows in Petrel for generating simulation inputs.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence peers and stakeholders.
  6. Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of making sound technical and economic recommendations with limited information.
  7. Outstanding time management abilities, adept at handling multiple projects simultaneously and meeting stringent deadlines.
  8. A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, experienced in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  9. Clear understanding of business drivers and their implications for development projects.
  10. Exceptional technical writing skills.

Education Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, with multi-functional experience considered advantageous.

Professional Expertise:

  1. At least 10 years of reservoir engineering experience within a multidisciplinary asset or technology team, including a minimum of 5 years focused on reservoir simulation.
