Counselor Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Counselor Assistant to join our team at Staffosaurus. As a key member of our treatment center, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic counseling and support to clients with substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to help clients achieve recovery goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assess clients' needs and progress using established clinical tools and evaluation methods.
  • Provide transportation for clients residing in local sober houses to and from the IOP program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and case management services as needed.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to the overall care planning for clients.
  • Educate clients and their families on substance use disorders, treatment options, and available community resources.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, peer recovery coaches, and other counselors to coordinate care.
Requirements
  • Must have or be working towards ACDA, CADC, MHRT-C certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with clients in a SUD treatment program, preferably in an outpatient setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SUD treatment modalities, including CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
  • Proven experience with group facilitation and leading therapeutic sessions.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record; comfortable with transporting clients.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional, therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations with a calm and solution-focused approach.
