Position: CNC Machinist Level 3 / Set-Up Technician (2nd shift)

Role Summary:

The CNC Machinist Level 3 is responsible for utilizing Tri-Mack's CNC and manual machining equipment to set up precision parts according to established programs, tools, and work holding methods. This role requires the ability to independently configure the majority of jobs across various machine platforms within the CNC department. The technician will troubleshoot production issues and assist colleagues with tool changes and offsets as necessary. Additionally, the technician may implement program modifications and suggest actionable enhancements to production workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate multiple CNC machines to meet specifications and maintain tight tolerances for all components.
  • Provide training to coworkers on CNC machine operations and measurement techniques.
  • Identify and implement correct loading techniques from setup files to ensure part conformity, while educating operators during hand-offs.
  • Change tools and inserts, verifying part conformity and advising teammates on anticipated wear rates during setup.
  • Execute all offsets, taper line adjustments, and work offsets necessary for producing consistently conforming parts.
  • Document all activities accurately at the end of each shift.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise on the production floor.
  • Verify raw material documentation and match picklists to ensure lot traceability.
  • Conduct all Preventative Maintenance tasks independently and document per relevant work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Prioritize safety for oneself and coworkers by using appropriate PPE and ensuring proper machine guarding.
  • Exhibit ethical and professional conduct while adhering to Tri-Mack values: Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Accountability, and Durability.
  • Comply with all AS9100 requirements as outlined in work instructions and by supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with CNC milling and/or lathe machines is required.
  • Experience in setup and/or program modifications is essential.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints and GD&T is necessary.
  • Physical capability to stand, bend, sit, and lift up to 40 pounds for extended periods.
  • General mathematical skills and the ability to solve geometric problems.
  • Proficiency in using and understanding all measuring tools.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Dependability in attendance and the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers.
