Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and pre-planning all banquet and catering events to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
  • Maintain exceptional levels of customer service and ensure that all guests receive a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Coordinate with banquet staff to execute flawless events and ensure that all details are attended to.
  • Evaluate guest satisfaction levels and identify areas for improvement to continuously enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain good communication and work relationships across all hotel departments and with external clients and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel security, fire regulations, and all health and safety legislation.
  • Manage daily banquet functions, including planning, organizing, and executing breakfasts, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, galas, and other events.
  • Ensure that service and standards according to SOPs are adhered to and that all events are executed to the highest standard.
  • Oversee the setup of function rooms, including the placement of linens, silver, glassware, and chinaware according to event specifications and conduct a full inspection.
  • Monitor and develop team member performance, including providing supervision, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations, and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Communicate function specifications, procedures, and changes with affected departments, including the Food and Beverage, Event Services, Property Operations, Audio Visual, and Housekeeping.
  • Oversee the breakdown of the function room and ensure proper storage of equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Demonstrated experience finding positive solutions to challenging service situations.
  • Previous experience with BEOs to ensure a successful event.
  • Must possess knowledge of fine-dining and casual service etiquette, as well as proper food handling.
  • Prior accounting, cash handling, or bank procedures experience.
  • Working knowledge of alcohol service controls and procedures.
  • Exemplary organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and maintain the integrity of service delivery process for any function.
  • Detailed communication with kitchen before, during, and after function to ensure that guest expectations have been exceeded and that food quality controls have been met.

Work Environment

The Banquet Operations Coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent standing, walking, and twisting. The position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, push and pull carts, and balance while carrying trays and glassware.
