This role involves supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) BUILDER Sustainment Management Systems (SMS) program. The primary responsibility is to generate comprehensive building assessments that detail the condition of electrical systems and their key components. These assessments will guide the planning and prioritization of maintenance activities and funding for a significant number of healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations of electrical systems within buildings.
- Utilize existing data to create reports that provide insights into current building conditions.
- Draft extensive scopes of work for the replacement of outdated equipment.
- Design projects aimed at facility rehabilitation, with varying sizes and complexities.
Additional Duties:
- Leverage expertise in electrical systems to formulate projects for facility repairs and upgrades.
- Provide mentorship and training to new or junior technicians in the field.
- Prepare Recapitalization Reports for large-scale medical facilities.
- Ensure precise data collection that accurately reflects observed conditions in the field.
- Participate in and present briefings as necessary.
- Collaborate with Lead Engineering and Program Managers to fulfill contractual obligations, manage deliverables, and coordinate travel and field operations.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Achieve expertise in BUILDER systems.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is mandatory.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with building systems is preferred.
- Prior experience with infrastructure and facility assessments for governmental entities is advantageous.
- Understanding of low and medium-voltage distribution systems and familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) is required.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense (DoD) Clearance is necessary.
- Experience in medical facilities is a plus.
- Background in construction or facilities management is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in creating detailed reports with engineering recommendations is preferred.
- Experience with BUILDER SMS or similar software platforms is beneficial.
Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly with clients and company leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Robust analytical skills.
- Ability to produce thorough technical reports and presentations.
Work Environment:
The work location may vary, including local home office and site visits to DOD medical facilities, as well as potential off-site meetings. Travel may be required in CONUS and OCONUS areas. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
