Robotics and Automation Engineer

SwRI is seeking a skilled Robotics and Automation Engineer to join our Robotics Department. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to building advanced capabilities, technologies, and solutions in the field of industrial robotics and automation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support mechanical design, controls, software development, and hardware integration on industrial robots, cobots, automation control hardware, and automated vehicles.
  • Work on a team with some of the brightest minds in robotics to design and develop innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with peers in other engineering groups to ensure design criteria is synchronized within all disciplines to meet requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, external clients, and industry partners.
  • Debug and modify electrical system-related issues during system testing and commissioning.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 0-6 years of relevant academic and/or internship experience in Electrical Engineering Technology and in the areas noted below.
  • Proficient with Eplan Electrical P8 or equivalent for designing electrical control panels, control system wiring, and instrumentation.
  • Familiar with safety machinery and process design.
  • Proficient with selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD, industrial PDP components, servo systems, and key electrical control components.
  • Familiar with Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other PLCs for overall control system project implementation.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
