Role Summary:

The Mechanical Service Technician is tasked with diagnosing and rectifying issues related to Flowserve's pumps and machinery across various sectors, including oil and gas, chemical processing, nuclear energy, coal, and wastewater management. This role demands a skilled mechanic capable of delivering expert solutions amidst operational challenges. Responsibilities include the installation and repair of equipment, overseeing start-up processes, conducting maintenance, and evaluating product performance at client sites. The Technician serves as a vital resource for customers, ensuring optimal operation of our products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct direct service visits in response to client inquiries.
  • Evaluate mechanical issues and implement prompt resolutions.
  • Collaborate closely with client personnel and lead work teams as necessary.
  • Manage the complete repair cycle: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly.
  • Ensure timely and successful equipment installation.
  • Assess equipment prior to start-up and evaluate performance during initial operation.
  • Monitor the upkeep and efficiency of Flowserve equipment.
  • Educate clients on proper operational and maintenance procedures for Flowserve products.
  • Work in conjunction with Flowserve Sales Engineers to provide a unified service approach.
  • Engage effectively with Flowserve's support teams, including repair centers and customer service.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records, including daily logs, quotes, and job performance reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in mechanical field service, particularly in pump repair.
  • Proficient in the removal and installation of pump bases.
  • Understanding of industrial pump applications and operations.
  • Self-motivated with strong follow-through capabilities, able to work independently.
  • Experience in leading work crews effectively.
  • Able to articulate mechanical issues and reasoning behind solutions.
  • Capable of handling complex technical problems.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and during challenging situations.
  • Excellent skills in interpreting blueprints and engineering schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong written communication skills for professional correspondence.
  • Willingness to travel and work in the field 90% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate various equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Able to complete detailed reports and documentation within deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in field machining or welding.
  • Expertise in repairing large, high-end centrifugal pumps.
  • Familiarity with BB5 Barrel Pump disassembly and assembly.
  • Knowledge of API 610 and 686 standards is advantageous.
  • Experience in supervisory roles during significant operational turnarounds.
