Position Overview

A Culinary Specialist will skillfully and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a diverse range of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and cooks made-to-order dishes that may require minimal preparation time.
  • May prepare food and serve patrons at an a la carte setting and may operate a grill station.
  • Ensures food is prepared in accordance with applicable federal, state, and company standards, guidelines, and regulations to guarantee high-quality food service.
  • Interprets food orders or receives verbal instructions from guests and prepares and cooks food accordingly.
  • Delivers the highest quality of service to customers consistently.
  • Follows standard recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items for consumption.
  • Prepares food under direct supervision or instruction by utilizing various kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.
  • Participates in all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
  • Adheres to all Ocean Casino Resort HACCP policies and procedures.
  • May undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Culinary apprenticeship or an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is desirable.
  • Experience in a high-volume kitchen is advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills in English are required.
  • Serv Safe certification is necessary.
