About the Role

The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Motor Vehicle Direct Client Service Specialist I. In this role, you will work closely with customers and members of the public to provide exceptional service and support regarding suspensions and reinstatements. Your expertise will be essential in processing reinstatements and various reports, including driving records, accident reports, and voluntary surrender of licenses. You will also be responsible for collecting and processing fees for these transactions, utilizing point-of-sale systems. This is a unique opportunity to interact with Vermonters daily and provide top-notch customer service.

This is a non-remote position, and work will take place within the Montpelier DMV. The successful candidate will work from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Process reinstatements and various reports, including driving records, accident reports, and voluntary surrender of licenses
  • Collect and process fees for these transactions, utilizing point-of-sale systems
  • Provide exceptional customer service to Vermonters
  • Work closely with customers and members of the public to resolve issues and answer questions
  • Meet production standards, including processing 3+ transactions per hour with a 1% or less error rate
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Two (2) or more years of work experience in a customer or client service role, including significant public contact and regular use of computer programs
  • OR Four (4) or more months of work experience in the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in licensing or registration, meeting proficiency standards set by the Department
