Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute tailored tax strategies that meet the specific needs of agricultural clients, including farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses.
- Prepare and assess federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entities within the agricultural domain.
- Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations, remaining informed about changes that may affect the agricultural industry.
- Deliver proactive tax advisory services, providing insights and recommendations for tax-saving opportunities and financial planning.
- Assist clients in comprehending the tax implications of various business decisions, such as acquisitions, expansions, and succession planning.
- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to address client inquiries and provide accurate, timely responses.
- Identify and mitigate potential tax risks for clients, ensuring compliance with tax policies and best practices.
- Oversee and mentor team members, offering guidance and promoting professional development.
- Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of work performed by team members, providing constructive feedback and training.
- Collaborate with other service lines and colleagues to deliver integrated services to clients.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, gaining an understanding of their business operations and objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor, anticipating client needs and delivering exceptional service.
- Identify opportunities to broaden service offerings and generate new business within the agricultural sector.
- Stay informed about trends, challenges, and opportunities within the agricultural industry.
- Engage in industry events, conferences, and professional organizations to enhance knowledge and network with peers.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- CPA license preferred, but not mandatory.
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation and review of individual and business tax returns.
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical skills, work quality, and adherence to professional and firm standards.
- Ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Highly motivated with the capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively, multitask, and complete assignments within budget.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with owners and staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts to clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office programs; QuickBooks experience is a plus.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
