Position Title:

Middle School Educator

Classification:

Full-time, 10-month faculty, salaried exempt

Working Hours:

7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with additional hours as necessary for after-school responsibilities.

Reports to:

Head of Middle School

Position Summary:

St. Christopher's School, a premier all-boys institution in Virginia, is in search of a dedicated Middle School Educator. Our school serves around 1,000 boys from JK-12 in Richmond, Virginia, and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment that supports the growth of every student.

With a foundation rooted in Episcopal values, we focus on nurturing young men of honor and integrity. Our curriculum emphasizes excellence across various disciplines, including academics, arts, athletics, and community service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a comprehensive academic curriculum (four classes with one or two preparations).
  • Guide and mentor a group of eight to ten students.
  • Lead or coach a significant extracurricular activity.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create impactful learning experiences.
  • Design and implement lesson plans that promote active learning.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute to the school community through committee work and events.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Alignment with St. Christopher's mission and values.
  • Commitment to educational best practices.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience or substantial experience working with children.
  • Passion for the subject matter and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Proficient in integrating technology into the learning environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset and adaptability.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and integrity.
  • Enjoy working with young boys and fostering their development.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to move around the classroom and campus, and lift up to 25 pounds.
