Position Summary
The Internal Audit Manager is essential in maintaining the integrity and operational efficiency of the financial institution. Collaborating closely with the Chief Risk Officer, the Internal Audit Manager will define the scope and timing of audit programs and objectives. This role is responsible for executing complex risk-based audits in alignment with the annual audit plan and serving as the point of contact for outsourced audits in high-risk areas. The manager will also provide recommendations for enhancing internal controls and report audit findings to the Audit Committee. Additionally, this position will assess the effectiveness of accounting, financial, information systems, and other operations by evaluating management controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments across various business units and identify existing controls to mitigate identified risks. Work with the Chief Risk Officer to create an Annual Risk Assessment for internal audit planning and scheduling. Define audit objectives and scope, develop relevant testing plans, and perform audit procedures to confirm operational controls.
- Document and execute audit work, including effectiveness testing. Provide evaluations on audited areas regarding personnel performance, accounting reliability, and internal control effectiveness.
- Act as the liaison for outsourced internal audits, particularly in complex or higher-risk areas, ensuring the overall success of the audit project.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure corrective actions and improvements are implemented based on audit findings. This includes validating the accuracy of findings, clearly articulating issues, and working with management to address root causes.
- Identify and document financial statement risks, internal control weaknesses, and operational inefficiencies or improvement opportunities. Serve as the audit liaison between the Audit Committee and the organization, responsible for implementing the Board-approved Audit Policy. Perform additional internal control monitoring or testing as required.
Bank Secrecy Act Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act regulations and all relevant regulatory, security, and Bank policies and procedures while performing assigned tasks.

Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Five years of audit experience, with knowledge of banking or related financial operations.
- Proven experience in establishing and executing internal audit functions, with a solid understanding of internal control environments in financial institutions.
- Familiarity with FDICIA implementation for financial institutions with assets over $1 billion.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CIA certification is preferred.
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of internal audit techniques, policies, procedures, and compliance auditing methods.
- Ability to analyze data and formulate strategies for operational improvement.
- Proficiency in computer-intensive environments, understanding electronic system interfaces, and possessing intermediate skills to retrieve and convert electronic data into useful formats for productive operations.
