Academic Support Specialist (Part-Time)

Department: VP Academic Affairs

Location: Wellesley Hills

As a comprehensive, open-access community college located in Greater Boston, MassBay offers a variety of associate degrees and certificate programs across three campuses.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will become part of a dynamic and inclusive educational environment, demonstrating a passion for working with a diverse student population. This is a part-time, non-unit role without benefits, aimed at assisting students enrolled in the Transitional Scholars Program, which supports individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in their academic pursuits and campus engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the inclusion of students with disabilities;
  • Accompany students to classes;
  • Assist students in developing effective study skills and strategies;
  • Guide students in accessing college services and resources;
  • Encourage appropriate college conduct;
  • Promote student independence, including support with social and functional life skills;
  • Help students with time management, organization, and other executive functioning skills;
  • Collaborate as part of a team, maintaining communication with faculty and staff;
  • Provide weekly updates to supervisors regarding student progress;
  • Ensure confidentiality of educational information and records;
  • Cover for other Academic Support Specialists during absences;
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $26 per hour

Position Type: PT - Seasonal/Temporary
