Veterinary Specialist, ASPCA Animal Hospital

The ASPCA Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will provide high-quality, practical veterinary care to a wide range of outpatients and inpatients.
Responsibilities- Manage medical cases, providing skilled and efficient diagnosis and treatment of outpatients and hospitalized animals within hospital medical parameters and budgetary guidelines.
- Perform general procedures, routine and emergency surgery, and high-volume dentistry.
- Provide a high level of customer service to external and internal clients.
- Practice in compliance with Fear Free guidelines.
- Provide in-house veterinary coverage, overseeing admission of patients from the ASPCA Adoption Center, kitten nursery, ARC, and CARE.
- Recommend treatment plans, provide inpatient care, and oversee drop-offs for procedures and diagnostics.
- Provide medical coverage for the Animal Recovery Center (ARC), including primary case responsibility for animals involved in cruelty and neglect cases.
- Collaborate with partner hospitals as needed.
- Supervise, mentor, and collaborate with interns to medically manage internal and publicly owned patients.
- Ability to successfully work in a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care practice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and good judgment.
- Strong analysis and interpretation skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, make decisions quickly, and juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
