Job Title: School Nurse

The School Nurse is a vital member of the educational team, responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students in a school setting. This role requires a unique blend of nursing expertise, communication skills, and knowledge of child development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services to students
  • Maintain the security and organization of school health supplies and medication
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations and communicate with parents on student health needs
  • Record and maintain accurate health data and immunization records
  • Identify and discuss abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease, and other health concerns with parents
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive health records for students
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff
  • Support student medical needs during transportation, as required
Requirements:
  • Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • One year of prior professional nursing experience in a school setting, preferably with pediatric experience
  • Current BLS card
  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment, child growth and development, and public health procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Computer proficiency preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
