This role requires a robust Systems Engineering perspective, along with a solid grasp of various sensing technologies such as Camera, LiDAR, and Radar, and an understanding of how their data outputs are utilized by downstream software systems (perception, calibration, mapping, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with cross-disciplinary teams (Software, Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, System Design, and Mission Assurance) to negotiate and clarify requirements.
  • Oversee both current and future sensor system architectures.
  • Establish and uphold the traceability of vehicle-level sensing requirements to subsystem-level sensor specifications.
  • Conduct System-Level trade studies to evaluate alternatives.
  • Define Verification and Validation (V&V) strategies for Sensor Systems and collaborate with testing engineers to develop comprehensive test plans.
  • Analyze test outcomes and assess their implications on system performance.
  • Implement and uphold Systems Engineering methodologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline with over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in a Systems Engineering capacity.
  • Technical expertise in the principles and core technologies associated with automotive Camera, LiDAR, and Radar systems.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing technical requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions to ascertain system requirements, supported by field testing or analytical methods, along with experience in presenting findings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Sensors in Autonomous Vehicles (Camera, LiDAR, Radar).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Optis, or similar integrated raytracing tools.
  • Background in Sensors Verification and Validation.
  • Experience with Safety-Critical Systems.

Compensation Overview

This position includes three primary components of compensation: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this role is $139,000 to $280,000. A sign-on bonus may be included as part of the overall compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of expertise. The range provided reflects the levels Zoox is considering for this position.

Zoox also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off (e.g., sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, and both long-term and short-term disability insurance.
