Job Title: Assistant Habilitation Specialist

WellLife Network is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Habilitation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and independence of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Habilitation Specialist will assist with the operation of the classroom, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and clean environment for participants. This role requires a strong understanding of individualized support plans and the ability to implement goals designed to maximize each participant's level of independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with daily living skills training, including activities such as shaving, toileting, hand washing, and tooth brushing.
  • Monitor participants' progress by collecting and documenting performance data.
  • Provide behavioral interventions when necessary, following the least restrictive OPWDD approved techniques.
  • Implement the established activity schedule for each consumer.
  • Ensure the unit is clean, safe, and appropriately decorated at all times.
  • Supervise participant's lunch periods and assist with feeding, unwrapping food items, and providing verbal and physical support.
  • Participate in various appointments for assigned participants as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver's license required.
