Position: Residential AdvisorReports to: Program Manager
Key Responsibilities:Residential Advisors play a vital role in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic atmosphere that promotes personal growth and rehabilitation. The primary objective is to deliver tailored behavioral support that empowers individuals to achieve maximum independence.
Essential Duties:- Guide and support individuals in daily activities, promoting personal hygiene and appropriate behavior.
- Collaborate with the Residential Supervisor to assess individual capabilities and needs for independent living, contributing to the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Instruct individuals in budgeting and financial management skills.
- Educate individuals on self-medication practices in accordance with regulations, supervising medication administration when necessary.
- Assist individuals with household tasks, including grocery shopping, meal planning, and preparation.
- Engage with individuals on a personal level to address concerns and challenges.
- Facilitate house meetings and informal discussions among peers.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, utilizing crisis intervention techniques as needed.
- Support individuals in using public transportation and provide transportation to appointments when required.
- Maintain accurate records, including data collection and daily logs, and ensure smooth communication between shifts.
- Promote healthy eating habits and assist individuals in accessing community nutritional resources.
- Encourage relationship-building and community integration by helping individuals join local organizations.
- Teach problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Organize leisure and recreational activities based on individual preferences, fostering self-initiative.
- Support individuals in developing self-management skills related to health and behavior.
- Provide instruction in basic first aid, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Empower individuals to make choices and decisions regarding their daily lives and future aspirations.
- Assist in establishing natural support systems for individuals.
- Encourage self-esteem and personal empowerment.
- Adhere to individual treatment plans consistently.
- Conduct monthly fire drills in compliance with safety procedures.
- Report any instances of abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel and inspectors as needed.
- Utilize on-call and crisis teams when necessary.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and team meetings.
- Implement OSHA regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting and snow removal as required.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Residential Advisors are essential to the success of our Residential Services. Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A High School Diploma and at least one year of experience in Human Services. Training is available for less experienced candidates.
- Certification in medication administration.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact tactfully with others.
- Reliability and adaptability.
- Insightfulness and effective communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and capability to operate a van.
- Training in crisis intervention techniques.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
- Must pass background checks as required.
