Role Summary: The Class A CDL Heavy Haul Driver is responsible for the safe loading, securing, transporting, and unloading of heavy machinery to various job sites. This role requires adherence to local, state, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. The driver will operate a truck or tractor-semi trailer combination vehicle with a weight capacity exceeding 26,001 pounds, reaching up to 120,000 pounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan delivery routes considering load specifications, including weight, height, and width, while ensuring securement of equipment.
  • Participate in the U.S. Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and securements to ensure safety before departure.
  • Ensure proper weight distribution based on trailer size and axle count.
  • Acquire necessary permits for weight and oversized loads prior to transport.
  • Report any vehicle or equipment issues to management that may affect safe operation.
  • Maintain all required paperwork for each vehicle operated.
  • Ensure appropriate labeling and placarding of the truck and trailer based on the load.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least two years of experience with Hydraulic Dovetail, Landoll, or Murray/Cozad 5 axle trailers.
  • Experience in loading and transporting oversized equipment such as excavators and dozers.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service regulations for property hauling drivers.
  • Possession of a valid Class A CDL from the state of residence.
  • Valid DOT medical certificate required.
  • No disqualifying traffic convictions as defined by FMCSA.
