About the Job

The Behavioral Health Associate I plays a vital role in the multidisciplinary treatment team, responsible for monitoring and reporting client behaviors, providing continuous care and supervision, and assisting with data collection and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the wellbeing of clients and maintain a safe, positive, and structured environment.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure supervision is conducted at intervals in accordance with individualized guidelines.
  • Manage client valuables and belongings, and interact with clients to promote interest in recreational activities.
  • Engage with clients in activities designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals, and facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups on topics such as social skills and independent living.
  • Take and record vital signs, and communicate significant changes in client condition to the charge nurse.
  • Document client records timely, accurately, and appropriately, and apply de-escalation techniques to manage client emotions and behavior.
  • Assist with unit cleaning, organization, and discharge process, and provide transfer or transportation for clients as required.
  • Provide verbal report/briefing to the oncoming shift, and serve as a resource for new clients introducing them to other clients and staff.
  • Maintain awareness of client needs and individual goals, and motivate clients towards activities beneficial to them.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required.
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
