The Behavioral Health Associate I plays a vital role in the multidisciplinary treatment team, responsible for monitoring and reporting client behaviors, providing continuous care and supervision, and assisting with data collection and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the wellbeing of clients and maintain a safe, positive, and structured environment.
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure supervision is conducted at intervals in accordance with individualized guidelines.
- Manage client valuables and belongings, and interact with clients to promote interest in recreational activities.
- Engage with clients in activities designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals, and facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups on topics such as social skills and independent living.
- Take and record vital signs, and communicate significant changes in client condition to the charge nurse.
- Document client records timely, accurately, and appropriately, and apply de-escalation techniques to manage client emotions and behavior.
- Assist with unit cleaning, organization, and discharge process, and provide transfer or transportation for clients as required.
- Provide verbal report/briefing to the oncoming shift, and serve as a resource for new clients introducing them to other clients and staff.
- Maintain awareness of client needs and individual goals, and motivate clients towards activities beneficial to them.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
- CPR and de-escalation certification required.
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
