Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train staff in the maintenance of water systems, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Coordinate and schedule work activities for City staff and outside contractors, prioritizing tasks and resources.
  • Manage the hiring, termination, and performance evaluation processes for team members, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Assist in budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with financial guidelines, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Develop and implement administrative policies, regulatory actions, and capital purchases, aligning with the City's strategic objectives.
  • Respond to customer and resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Be available for emergency response on a 24-hour basis, demonstrating a commitment to public safety and service.
Requirements
  • Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • High School graduate or GED certificate and at least four (4) years of experience as a technician or equivalent.
  • Class "A" CDL valid in the state of Missouri, or obtained within 120 days of employment. A commercial driver's instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and communicate information from blueprints or plans.
  • Ability to operate an engineering level and basic surveying equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer application programs.
  • Certification in Confined Space Entry or obtain within one (1) year.
  • Certification as an IMSA Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician or obtained within one (1) year.
  • Completion of City Supervisory Course or obtain within one (1) year.
  • Missouri Water Environment Voluntary Collection Systems Operator Class A Certification or Missouri Department of Natural Resources Distribution System Operator Certification DS-III or obtain within one (1) year.
