Position Summary:
Apex is in search of a proficient Treasury Accountant to enhance our Accounting department. This role is essential for addressing the treasury requirements of various segments within Corporate, Project, and Asset Management Accounting. As a newly established position in a rapidly expanding organization, the Treasury Accountant will play a pivotal role in developing our treasury management framework. The position supports a hybrid work arrangement, requiring on-site presence a few times each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the organization’s cash flow to fulfill operational requirements, including monitoring bank balances and facilitating fund transfers.
  • Conduct cash forecasting and liquidity assessments to ensure sufficient funds are available, while monitoring compliance with minimum financial covenants.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial documentation and reports.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Manage the company’s investment portfolio, including reconciling and documenting investment transactions.
  • Maintain and update treasury management systems and banking platforms, including managing bank accounts and corporate credit card processes.
  • Analyze and enhance cash management processes for improved efficiency.
  • Record cash receipts and manage vendor refund processes.
  • Oversee check signing protocols.
  • Support payment processing activities, including:
    • Administration of Positive Pay (e.g., uploading issued checks, processing voids, and reviewing exceptions).
    • Facilitation of ACH payments (e.g., creating files and submitting for approval).
    • Management of ACH returns (e.g., analyzing causes, documenting, and coordinating corrective actions).
    • Verification of third-party ACH bank debits.
    • Validation of banking details and preparation of wire transfers for approval.
    • Issuance of stop payments.
    • Documentation of manual checks for wire transactions.

Qualifications:
To thrive as a Treasury Accountant at Apex Clean Energy, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CTP) is highly desirable.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity within a holding company with multiple consolidating entities.
  • Experience in cash forecasting and short-term investment management.
  • Strong grasp of cash management, risk assessment, and fraud prevention techniques.
  • Experience managing multiple banking platforms.
  • Familiarity with implementing P-Card programs and/or third-party vendor payment processing.
  • Knowledge of treasury-related accounting standards for compliant financial reporting.
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes and systems.
  • Proficient in Excel (e.g., vlookup, xlookup, sumif(s), pivot tables).
  • General proficiency in MS 365 applications (e.g., Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

Work Environment:
This position primarily operates during standard office hours in an indoor office setting, with flexible hours permitted as business operations allow.
