Job Summary

The MD Anderson Center is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our surgical team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care under the supervision of a licensed physician. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in surgery or urology and be a licensed Physician Assistant with current certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants and licensure by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain medical history and perform physical exams on patients
• Interpret diagnostic tests and radiographic results and develop management plans in concert with faculty physicians
• Take responsibility for patient assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient needs as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team
• Document patient information in the medical record
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care

Working Conditions

This position requires working in an office environment and patient care unit, with exposure to human/animal blood, body fluids, or tissues. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Education and Certification

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree from a Physician Assistant training program approved by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association and current certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants and licensure by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. Eligibility to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas is also required.
