McCarter & English, LLP is currently on the lookout for a patent associate specializing in chemistry, ideally holding an advanced degree in the field, to support its various office locations.

Candidates should possess 2-6 years of relevant experience as a patent attorney or patent agent.

It is essential for candidates to have an advanced degree in organic chemistry or substantial industrial experience, ideally a minimum of five years, in organic chemistry.

Experience in the pharmaceutical sector is considered advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional academic qualifications and have a solid background in drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to chemistry.

In addition to being admitted to practice in at least one State bar, candidates should also be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D., exhibit outstanding writing, interpersonal, and communication skills, and have substantial experience in the preparation and prosecution of chemistry patent applications.
