Position Overview:
UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Wound Care Specialist for our Main Campus. As a leader in pediatric healthcare, UPMC Children's Hospital is committed to excellence in treating childhood conditions and advancing innovative therapies.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage in ongoing education within the specialty, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
2. Mentor and guide students, new nurses, and healthcare staff, sharing expertise and insights.
3. Assess clinical and behavioral scenarios to identify opportunities for enhancing patient care practices.
4. Actively seek constructive feedback to drive professional growth and improvement.
5. Promote knowledge sharing through research presentations, journal clubs, and educational materials.

Professional Development:
1. Conduct in-services and formal training sessions for nursing teams and interdisciplinary staff.
2. Contribute to the unit's skin care committee, enhancing clinical practices and standards.
3. Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives within the clinical setting.
4. Utilize evidence-based practices to inform nursing interventions and patient care strategies.

Patient Care:
1. Apply the Nursing process within a Relationship-Based Care framework to foster a healing environment.
2. Collaborate with patients to develop personalized care plans that address their holistic needs.
3. Maintain clear communication regarding patient conditions and care plans with the healthcare team.
4. Ensure thorough documentation of patient care activities to facilitate effective communication among caregivers.

Workplace Culture:
1. Cultivate positive relationships among colleagues, promoting a healthy work environment.
2. Exhibit cultural awareness and address workplace challenges proactively.
3. Balance professional responsibilities with personal well-being through effective prioritization.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
2. CPR certification as per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
3. Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills essential.
4. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse healthcare professionals.
5. National Wound and Ostomy certification preferred, with a commitment to obtaining it within the first year of employment.
