Job Summary

Bend Metro and Park Recreation District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ice Skate Instructor to join our team. As an Ice Skate Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching various levels of ice skating programs to youth and adults, providing a safe and enjoyable learning experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct and supervise participants in ice skating lessons
  • Ensure safe use of facilities and maintain security of the facility
  • Maintain all required records and forms
  • Respond to accidents and incidents according to procedures
  • Set up and break down of equipment and facilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness of facilities and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and staff
  • Participate in district-wide special events as needed
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of skating instruction, safety guidelines, child development, and age-appropriate learning and communication strategies
  • Ability to skate at an intermediate to advanced level
  • Physical ability to perform duties
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and create a positive, respectful, and constructive relationship with staff and the general public
Education and Experience
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Currently attending high school or high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have ability to ice skate
  • Some previous work, training, or volunteer experience related to position
Certification
  • First Aid/CPR - preferred
Working Conditions
  • Varied work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
