Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Officer to join our team at Arnot Health. As a key member of our public safety department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, students, and employees across our locations.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas to identify potential safety hazards and take corrective action as needed.
  2. Collect and compile information for incident reports, conducting follow-up investigations as required.
  3. Maintain accurate digital logbook entries.
  4. Stay up-to-date with knowledge of departmental equipment and use it responsibly.
  5. Familiarize yourself with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Policy Manual, Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, and Fire Manual.
Safety and Security

You will respond to all calls for assistance, including but not limited to emergency alerts, fire alarms, code teams, and rapid response situations. Additionally, you will conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections, participate in fire drills, and perform other safety-related tasks as assigned.

Communication and Teamwork

As a visible representative of Arnot Health, you will interact with patients, visitors, and employees in a professional and courteous manner, providing support and assistance when needed. You will also communicate effectively with your team and superiors, maintaining open lines of communication to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Eligible for NYS Security Guard License; current license preferred.
  • Six months to one year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a security role.
Physical Demands

You must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, and lift heavy objects (minimum 40 lbs.). A clean and valid driver's license is also required.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is between $45,000 and $65,000 annually, depending on location and experience. This figure is based on industry standards and the level of responsibility associated with this role.
