Job Overview

Position Summary: The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for delivering engaging recreational programs tailored to the abilities of residents/patients, promoting their social interaction and mental health.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, implement, and assess recreational activities through both individual and group sessions that cater to the interests and needs of residents/patients.
  2. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all participants in recreational activities, including assessments, progress notes, care plans, and attendance records.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in English to effectively document and communicate all aspects of resident care.
  4. Participate in all staff meetings and departmental training sessions.
  5. Engage in additional relevant in-house educational programs.
  6. Report the progress of residents/patients receiving treatments or any challenges encountered in fulfilling your responsibilities to the Director or Assistant Director.
  7. Contribute to unit care planning meetings and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to establish suitable goals for residents.
  8. Ensure compliance with established safety protocols at all times.
  9. Immediately report any unsafe or hazardous conditions or equipment.
  10. Work collaboratively with team members to plan special events, fundraising activities, and other programs.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Strong writing skills are essential for documentation tasks such as progress notes, assessments, and care plans.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.

A minimum of one year of experience in a Long-Term Care or Geriatric Care setting is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves light physical activity, which may include frequent movement and occasional light lifting or carrying.
