POSITION: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - FINANCE DIVISION

LOCATION:

This position is part of the Career Service within the Finance & Accounting department.

SALARY:
Competitive salary based on current pay policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts thorough reviews, audits, and approvals of financial change requests in compliance with departmental guidelines.
2. Manages the processing of refunds from various state accounts, including supervision fees and restitution reimbursements.
3. Ensures accurate reconciliation of refunds with reports generated by the financial management system.
4. Reviews and processes refunds for offenders and dormant accounts.
5. Facilitates the transfer of undisbursed funds between payees as necessary.
6. Provides assistance to probation and parole officers in resolving account discrepancies.
7. Addresses inquiries from victims regarding their financial accounts.
8. Reports any discrepancies or issues to the supervising authority.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Proficient in using calculators and personal computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Familiarity with data collection methods.
• Capability to prepare financial statements and reports.
• Experience in designing and implementing accounting systems.
• Proficient in maintaining diverse accounting records.
• Analytical skills to interpret accounting data.
• Understanding of applicable regulations and policies related to accounting.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Problem-solving skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities should be evident in the application, education, work experience, and during the interview process.
