Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing and coordinating laboratory functions and educational staff for introductory microbiology and physiology courses. The successful candidate will manage the preparation of lab materials, ensure the upkeep of laboratory equipment, and provide training for graduate teaching assistants, while also supervising the biological waste management program within the Department of Biology.

Essential Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree accompanied by two years of relevant experience in Microbiology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or Molecular Biology, with a focus on Microbiology preferred. Candidates must also have at least one year of experience in microbiology techniques and supervisory roles. Proficiency in the maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment used in microbiology and related biological fields is required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain microbial cultures and prepare necessary media and reagents for microbiology and physiology labs.
- Ensure that all teaching laboratories are stocked with the required equipment and supplies.
- Manage inventory and order supplies for microbiology, physiology, and related teaching labs.
- Update laboratory manuals and coordinate printing.
- Set up and dismantle materials and equipment for teaching labs.
- Train and supervise student employees and graduate assistants involved in laboratory operations.
- Collaborate with faculty during weekly meetings to enhance teaching assistant performance.
- Evaluate graduate teaching assistants and contribute to the development of laboratory exercises and materials.
- Monitor and manage the budget for teaching laboratory supplies and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field, knowledge of laboratory principles in other biology disciplines, teaching experience, and experience in budget management for instructional labs are advantageous.
