Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Shelter House Attendant. This role is responsible for providing security, care giving, emotional support, transportation, craft making, and light housekeeping for residents at the Domestic Violence Shelter.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure the well-being of our residents.
  2. Interact with and serve residents in a professional, patient, and compassionate manner.
  3. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding shelter residents and activities.
  4. Perform daily tasks, including security checks, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  5. Assist residents with accessing resources, services, and court systems.
  6. Develop and implement safety plans for residents.
  7. Provide emotional support and counseling to residents.
  8. Assist with light housekeeping and cooking when needed.
  9. Provide childcare services when required.
Requirements:
  • One-year certification in the Human Services field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of a GED or High School Diploma and six months of domestic violence training or support group work experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, children, and groups.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a house setting with frequent employee and resident contacts.
  • Position may be stressful at times due to sensitive or confidential issues.
