The Vice President of Operational Risk Management serves as a key authority in ensuring the robustness of Global Risk and Control (R&C) frameworks that underpin Business Operations Shared Services (BOSS). This role is pivotal in delivering continuous oversight and specialized knowledge in risk and control, while executing structured governance practices that facilitate the identification, mitigation, and escalation of operational risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Management Framework: Offers strategic guidance to BOSS teams across various products, regions, and countries, ensuring that effective policies and practices are in place for identifying risks and assessing control deficiencies. This includes analyzing root causes and ensuring timely remediation plans are established by management.
- Governance of Control Assessments: Supports the BOSS Manager Control Assessment (MCA) process, ensuring the timely completion of Monitoring Results and that Significant Risks and Key Controls are adequately designed and effectively operational.
- Process Evaluation and Issue Resolution: Conducts comprehensive reviews to understand operational processes, evaluate key controls, and identify areas for improvement. This includes managing Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and ensuring transparent reporting of control issues to Senior Leadership.
- Support for Additional Risk Programs: Engages in various risk and control initiatives, including Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC), business monitoring, and Third Party Management, while reporting on risk metrics and best practices.
- Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicates with staff and management regarding initiatives, timelines, and statuses through tools such as heat maps and program dashboards.
- Knowledge Development: Cultivates expertise in internal controls and develops training materials for BOSS employees to enhance their understanding of effective business processes.
- Collaboration on Corporate Initiatives: Provides support to Risk & Control Management in the execution of Citi-wide projects and adherence to corporate policies.
- Adaptability: This role requires flexibility to support diverse risk programs across various topics and geographies, necessitating comfort in switching between multiple projects.
Qualifications:
Experience and Knowledge:
- Minimum of 6 years in risk advisory, operational risk, compliance, or related fields within financial services.
- Proficient in the design and operation of process controls and their components.
- Ability to analyze data to assess impacts on customer experience and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly in engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Experience in project management and risk certifications is advantageous.
Skills:
- Leadership through influence and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Strategic thinking with clear articulation of concepts.
- Interpersonal skills that drive results and a sense of urgency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong time management capabilities.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is preferred.
