Material Handling Team Lead

The Material Handling Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of Material Handlers in accordance with Douglas Leadership qualities. This position will have the ability to cover for the Material Handling Manager as needed and have full knowledge and skills within the department to back-up team members.

- Lead, train, and monitor the work of the assigned team.
- Ability to step in and fulfill the daily functions of any Material Handling position.
- Assist department manager with administering and developing processes and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Review and resolve discrepancies/inquiries in a timely manner. This includes executing inventory transactions and correct upstream/downstream transaction errors.
- Communicate and coordinate workload status, personnel needs, performance of employees and any procedural problems with department manager.
- Provide work direction by following established procedures and processes.
- Responsible for the overall productivity of the team.
- Conduct team meetings to communicate all necessary information in a timely manner and encourage open dialogue.
- Champion department initiatives.
- Develop individual and team goals that are aligned with corporate goals.
- Ensure that safe, clean and organized workplace conditions are maintained.
- Report safety incidents, accidents or violations that may occur.
- Ensure that training objectives for employees are being met, which includes adjusting work schedules when necessary to fulfill requirements.
- Responsible for auditing 5S performance and leading 5S improvements.
- Lead by example; must be positive, consistent, impartial, and fair with all employees and show positive enforcement of all company policies, standards, and the Douglas Values.
- Develop proactive working relationships with other departments to address root causes of shared problems and generate 'win-win' solutions.
- Will work through and assist with personnel issues through the conflict resolution process.
- Responsible for complying with all safety policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
