Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is a key member of the Pharmacy team at Spartanburg Regional, responsible for optimizing clinical and operational pharmacy services for the high-risk, critically ill cardiac population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with managers and staff to develop and implement clinical pharmacy services that improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide direct patient care by proactively impacting pharmacotherapeutic decisions through interdisciplinary collaboration in the coronary care (CCU) and cardiovascular critical care (CVRU) units.
  • Contribute to educational initiatives, including staff development, student, and resident precepting.
  • Manage quality improvement and research projects in the area of specialty.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
  • PGY2 Cardiology or Critical Care Residency
  • One year of experience as an acute care cardiology or critical care health-system pharmacist
  • Current license with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy or eligible
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years experience as a cardiology or critical care health-system pharmacist within the cardiac and cardiothoracic critical care units
Core Competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with other healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens
  • Compound, prepare, label, and dispense medications according to accepted standards of practice
  • Interpret medication orders, monitor drug regimens, and perform interventions as necessary
  • Design and facilitate educational initiatives for pharmacy and interdisciplinary staff
  • Precept students and residents, as assigned
  • Design and execute quality improvement projects
