We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Acorn Product Development. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex mechanical systems and products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of mechanical engineers in the design and development of products with multiple powered degrees of freedom.
- Design, build, and test systems and critical components to ensure high-quality and reliability.
- Brainstorm and compare potential product architectures against client metrics and requirements.
- Perform critical engineering analyses and tests from concept evaluations to production verification.
- Assist clients in defining product specifications, schedules, and resource planning.
- Manage project budget, schedule, and deliverables as the primary point of contact with clients.
- BSME degree required, MSME degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of technical system-level design experience.
- Mechatronics expertise, including motors, bearings, gear trains, belt drives, and sensors.
- Experience with motion control hardware, including motors and position sensors.
- Experience with end effector design is a plus.
- Multiple projects designed, fabricated, and tested.
- Automation experience for industrial applications and manufacturing lines.
- Hands-on system bring-up and integration with a cross-functional team.
- ME analysis experience in kinematics, structural, thermal, and tolerances.
- Materials and component selection expertise.
- Proficient in Solidworks CAD and FEA.
- Project Management experience leading a cross-functional team.
- Experience with life science instrument and/or medical device design is a plus.
- Client interface capability and experience.
- Hands-on practical performance in shop/lab work.
- Design for manufacturability (high/low volume).
- Project and technical reporting.
- Understanding of ISO is a plus.
