Electrical Engineer I Job Description

KFI Engineers, P.C. is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to join our Utilities and Central Energy (UCE) group. As an Electrical Engineer I, you will play a key role in the successful execution of projects, providing technical and engineering excellence, and delivering high-quality work to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with Senior Electrical Engineers to develop design skills and design medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, including generation and distribution.
  • Design special systems, including ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, UPS, DC, motor control centers, and power factor correction.
  • Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes, standards, and contracted scope of work.
  • Perform power system studies, including arc fault hazard analysis, short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and harmonics studies.
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, conduct construction observation, and provide field support during startup and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Entry-level Electrical Engineer with a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, including medium voltage and 480-volt power systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
