Job Overview

The Senior Building Controls Technician will play a key role in the expansion, upgrade, or replacement of building automation hardware and software for smart building infrastructure. This position will work independently to meet project requirements with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer control system hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Program projects with various levels of complexity, ensuring accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on system configuration, network, and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations.
  • Develop and configure the sequence of operations, programming, graphics, database, network, and integrations into third-party systems.
  • Provide owner training as required by the project, execute system commissioning and functional testing, and assist in installation of control hardware.
  • Startup and commission new hardware installations, provide project management assistance on projects as required, and interface directly with customers.
  • Supervise sub-contractors and suppliers as needed, and help educate lower-level technicians through on-the-job training.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Programming skills, strong analytical skills, and strong interactive and communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits, and a thorough understanding of and ability to use appropriate tools.
  • Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others, knowledge of DDC Control Theory and Applications as related to HVAC equipment, and strong knowledge of common DDC communications protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience with programming, startup, and commissioning of control systems, Niagara N4 certification, and experience with multiple manufacturers of controls.
  • Technical knowledge with installation of controls equipment and ancillary devices, physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs, and willing to work at heights.
