Position Overview:
As a Lead Systems Architect at Rocket Software, you will be an integral part of a global IT organization dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our software development teams and internal stakeholders. Your role will encompass the design, execution, upkeep, and oversight of intricate systems within your specialization. As a technical authority across various infrastructure domains, you will collaborate with development teams to architect sophisticated infrastructure solutions and ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery. You will be tasked with identifying, analyzing, and rectifying system challenges while documenting deficiencies in configuration, processes, and documentation, and proposing corrective measures. Additionally, you will work closely with senior team members to influence and recommend strategies that facilitate the design of technical solutions, guiding the team towards successful implementation. Mentoring junior team members will also be a key aspect of your role, empowering them to enhance their skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple technology domains, particularly in compute and virtualization, focusing on Pure Storage, VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, vSphere Replication, ESXi, and Cisco UCS in a multi-domain and multi-site environment.
- Develop comprehensive roadmaps and standard configurations for compute and virtualization.
- Engage with vendors and partners to define solutions and configurations that align with budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with CoLo data center vendors to implement new requirements and resolve issues effectively.
- Work closely with Rocket development teams to ascertain system and business requirements that support software development initiatives.
- Contribute to key technology projects, including virtualization, data center management, disaster recovery, mergers and acquisitions, capacity planning, and budgeting.
- Conduct systems performance evaluations and optimizations.
- Provide metrics for capacity planning to inform budgetary decisions and new acquisitions.
- Manage day-to-day system administration tasks for assigned systems.
- Create automation solutions for systems monitoring, management, and configurations.
- Recommend strategies and standards for all platform infrastructures.
- Ensure security measures, best practices, and documentation are in place for all infrastructure-related systems and applications.
- Deliver prompt problem resolution, incident management, and root cause analysis.
- Adhere to company standards regarding engagement, change management, and escalation processes.
- Develop and maintain a knowledge base of standard operating procedures.
- Assess business and technology requirements to identify optimal solutions for the environment.
- Mentor junior team members to enhance their skills and operationalize tasks where feasible.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, MIS, Mathematics, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of senior engineering experience.
- Ten or more years of relevant education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of formal educational requirements.
- Expert-level knowledge of Cisco UCS server infrastructure in a multi-site, multi-domain context.
- Proficient in Cisco UCS Manager and UCS Central.
- Advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, VMware Horizon, and vSphere Replication.
- Experience with Pure Storage FlashArray and FlashBlade.
- Familiarity with iSCSI, NAS, NFS, and fibre channel protocols.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell and PowerCLI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to documenting configurations for team support.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on listening and questioning to derive optimal solutions.
- Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail, with a customer-centric approach.
- Ability and eagerness to quickly learn new technologies with minimal guidance.
- Capability to present ideas and solutions to complex issues and lead their implementation.
- Proficient in presenting concepts in a team-oriented environment that values data-driven decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with VMware SRM or similar applications.
- Familiarity with Veeam Backup & Recovery or comparable products.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS/Azure preferred).
- Experience conducting proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Understanding of DevOps orchestration and automation principles.
- Familiarity with server technologies such as Windows and Unix/Linux.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $104,000 to $130,267.20 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
