POSITION OVERVIEW

The Corporate Relations Advancement Specialist plays a vital role within the Culinary Institute of America's (CIA) Advancement Division, specifically within the Corporate Relations (CR) team. This position is responsible for overseeing the Gift-in-Kind (GIK) Equipment Curriculum Program, which is essential for achieving the strategic and financial objectives of the Institute. The Specialist will collaborate with various teams to manage the GIK program and foster partnerships that align with the CIA's goals. The role also involves identifying, cultivating, and soliciting annual contributions, with targets set at $1,000,000 for GIK Equipment and $250,000 for personal portfolios.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising:

  • Lead the GIK Equipment Curriculum Program, aiming to secure over $1 million annually in donated quality smallwares and capital equipment that enhance CIA's culinary education across multiple campuses.
  • Identify and engage new equipment manufacturers while strengthening relationships with existing donors to increase philanthropic support.
  • Facilitate donor cultivation through campus visits, business meetings, and experiences that encourage giving.
  • Manage a portfolio of up to 150 donors, focusing on annual gifts that support various CIA initiatives, with a goal of exceeding $250,000.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse audience of industry leaders, including executives and corporate foundations.
Management:
  • Oversee relationships with over 70 equipment manufacturing donors, each with distinct terms regarding donations and campus usage.
  • Prepare agreements and proposals for prospective donors.
  • Develop a strategic travel schedule to meet with prospects and donors at industry events and CIA-sponsored conferences.
Stewardship:
  • Manage the stewardship of individual donor portfolios, collaborating with the CR team as necessary.
  • Work with the Advancement Communications Manager to create cohesive stewardship strategies.
  • Prepare corporate foodservice case studies and materials for donor recognition and stewardship.
  • Contribute to monthly CR Donor Report Cards and participate in weekly Marketing/Communications meetings.
  • Maintain accurate corporate contacts and track progress using relevant database systems.
Events and Outreach:
  • Build relationships with key constituents to support CIA's major events.
  • Attend and assist with key fundraising events and meetings focused on business development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in fundraising, advancement, development, communications, business, finance, or a related field.
Experience:
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in fundraising, sales, purchasing, or higher education, demonstrating a successful track record.
  • Proven success in previous corporate, foundation, and organizational roles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with the food service industry, including experience with food products, equipment, and services.
  • Background in purchasing, corporate fundraising, or food and beverage operations within hospitality or foodservice sectors.
  • Knowledge of coordination with purchasing, accounting, and distribution processes.
  • Previous experience in business development.
